2-Day Beijing Private Gourmet Tour with Forbidden City and Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall

Overview:

Beijing’s local cuisine and tourism are inseparable. During this two-day tour, our guides will guide you to sample the most authentic foods in Beijing while visiting the main attractions. Start off your tour on day one visiting top attractions such as: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and Temple of Heaven. For lunch, enjoy Beijing Roast Duck. On day two, visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. Finish off with a taste of Beijing’s Kung Pao Chicken and traditional Chinese dumplings.

What to Expect:

Day 01: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Lunch (Beijing Roast Duck)

Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8:30am (departure times will be adjusted according to the season.)

First off, you’ll visit the central landmark of Beijing, Tiananmen Square. China is the most populous country in the world, thousands visit the Square daily. Modern China began here.

Within the center of Tiananmen Square is a monument dedicated to the People’s Heroes, those who died during the Second World War. On the east side is the Great wall of the People; heading west is the National History Museum; and on the south is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.

The architectural structure of the square was established in accordance with the traditional Chinese theory of Feng Shui (BE SURE TO TAKE A PHOTO HERE.)

Continuing north through the Square is the famous Palace Museum. The Forbidden City was once the royal palace of the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty.

Next to the north gate of the Forbidden City is Jingshan Park, stand at the top of the mountain if you dare! From the mountain, you can view the entire Forbidden City.

After two hours of walking, lunch is Beijing Roast Duck which has long been a part of Chinese history.

During the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven, World Cultural Heritage, covering an area of about 2.73 million square meters. The Temple of Heaven was built in the 18th year of Ming Yongle (1420.) There, emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped the heavens. In the past, (China is an agricultural country) people believed the annual sacrifice of the emperor to the sky would bring good harvest to farmers in the second year and the weather would be conducive to agricultural production.

Later you can tour the Red Bridge Market, the most dynamic souvenir market in Beijing. Our tour guides will give you tips on how to bargain with small traders, so you can leave happily with your favorite souvenirs.

After the tour. The guide will take you back to your hotel or other desired location (around 5pm) You may also inquire about popular restaurants in the city where our driver can take you.

Day 02: Visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and take a dragon boat ride to see the Summer Palace. The Great Wall in Beijing totals more than 600 kilometers. For the past 10 years, the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall has been considered by tourist as the best to experience of the Great Wall.  Compared to other sections of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu is not crowded and is convenient to commute to with plenty of surrounding transportation options. The Great wall is gentle for the elderly and suitable for young children to walk. The highlight of this trip will be the Toboggan down and cable car to come up with our tour guides to accompanying you throughout the trip, explaining the history of the Great Wall.

Lunch will be at a restaurant near the Great Wall; taste the famous Kung Pao Chicken and Chinese dumplings.

During the afternoon, visit the Summer Palace, located in the western suburbs of Beijing (15 kilometers from the city center.) It was the royal private garden of the Qing Dynasty before 1900 and was later opened to tourists. It is based on Kunming Lake about Wanshou Mountain and in Hangzhou on the West Lake. It is a large-scale landscape garden built by the design method of Jiangnan Garden. It is also the most preserved royal place, known as the “Royal Garden Museum.” The highlight is the dragon boat on the Kunming Lake in the summer to see the entire Summer Palace.
